In addition to the Keynote Address and Symposium, the Honors Institute includes a classroom component each year. One of the two UH 400 seminars taught as part of the 2009 Honors Institute was Dr. Sarah Twill's class on "Social Activism and Free Speech." During the ten-week class Honors students mentored middle school students from Dayton Public Schools’ Westwood School on exercising their First Amendment rights. The project culminated in a lobby day at the State Capitol in Columbus, OH. Photos from the trip will be posted soon. |
