Applying for financial aid

Federal and State Financial Aid

To apply for any federal or state financial aid at Wright State University, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA form is available online or you can pick up a paper copy from your guidance counselor, a public library, or college/university financial aid office after January 1.

Please note: Filing the FAFSA online is the quickest and most convenient method.

The FAFSA can be filed after January 1 by paper application or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, which is the preferred method for faster processing. Before completing the FAFSA online, you and your parent(s) (for dependent students), must request a PIN online at www.pin.ed.gov. The PIN will serve as the electronic signature for FAFSA filers.

In order to complete the FAFSA, you will need student and parent (or spouse, if you are married) 1040s and W-2s. Many of the questions on the FAFSA will come directly from these forms. However, you should not send copies of these forms to the federal processor.

On the FAFSA, you will also be required to list the colleges and universities that you want to receive your FAFSA results. Wright State's Title IV code for the FAFSA is 003078.

The priority deadline to submit the FAFSA at WSU is February 15.

Financial Aid Award Notification

When the FAFSA application has been completed and received electronically by Wright State, students will be notified through their Wright State student e-mail address. If there are any additional financial aid requirements, students will be notified in the e-mail to access their financial aid account in WINGS Express to complete these requirements.
