Cherissa Rainey, Senior
Hometown:
I don’t have one. I was an Air Force kid and grew up all over
Major(s):
Spanish/Pre-Med
Minor:
Health Science
Clubs/organizations:
Minority Association of Pre-Med Students, In HIS Presence Gospel Choir, High Praise Dance Ministry
Academic Experience:
I will always remember my research experience here. I work in Dr. Cipollini’s plant physiology lab. When I started, I was a clueless freshman with no experience. He and the graduate students in the lab taught me so much and they really made me love research.
Outside of the Classroom:
I am going to Brazil with a biomedical exchange program through the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at WSU. I will be doing research and taking classes while I am there. This will be my second trip abroad; I feel that traveling to another country makes you a better person. It allows you to think outside of yourself and not be so selfish. In the U.S., we are so spoiled that we often forget that education is a gift that not everyone has access to. When you travel to different countries you see the appreciation first hand.
A Little Advice:
Learn how to study before you get here you’ll save yourself a lot of agony and time because professors will expect you to perform and if you have the skills you need, you will have a head start.
