Getting Involved:
The Model United Nations Team is a four-credit hour seminar class that has also been the most challenging course I have taken here, and it has provided me with a lot of experience. Our team is assigned a country to represent at the National Model United Nations Conference in NYC and we spend several months researching to prepare. The Model UN team helps you to develop extensive research techniques, public speaking, negotiation, and technical writing skills that are essential to diplomacy. We have received top honors for the last 29 years, which is a winning streak unmatched by any other university in the country.
For me, this experience has been a unique one at WSU. I not only have expanded my knowledge of how the United Nations system works, but I have also built valuable skills that I will be able to utilize with any career in the future.
Outside of the Classroom:
I recently went to Japan with Dr. December Green and six other students. While there, we were able to discuss within our small group our experiences and observations regarding comparative politics. The professor was able to challenge us to see things in a different perspective. Being in such a small group and having one-on-one time with the professor was very beneficial and allowed us all to learn so much more.
A Little Advice:
When you go on college visits, you’ll find a place where, the moment you step on campus, you know that it’s right for you. I found my place here at Wright State. When you come to WSU, don’t visualize yourself being just a student on a college visit, visualize yourself as a WSU Raider, and see where that takes you. When I came to Wright State on my college visit, I could see myself going to college here. It didn’t feel like any other university; it felt like my university. Come see for yourself! |
