Wright State University offers free access to career-focused online courses and specializations on Coursera for current students, faculty, and staff. These courses—developed by top companies like Google, Meta, and IBM—can help you gain industry-recognized certificates and micro-credentials to complement your learning in the classroom and professional experience. Learn anytime, at your own pace. 

Career Academy programs are 100% online and designed for maximum flexibility, allowing you to learn at your own pace while you:

  • Earn microcredentials that set you apart in the job market 

Choose from 20 programs in high-growth fields such as Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Digital Marketing, Human Resources, Project Management, Supply Chain Analysis, and more. 

 

Eligibility 

Current Wright State students, staff and faculty are eligible to access Career Academy programs. No background knowledge or experience is required. 

 

Get Started 

Wright State Career Academy is delivered through Coursera. All courses are completely online and completed on your own time, so there is no need to be on campus to access instructional videos, readings and assignments.

Once on the Wright State and Coursera Career Academy page, select "Join" or "Log In," depending on whether you have an account with Coursera already or not.

Select "Log In" with Wright State University.

Enter your Wright State w# and password to log in.

Begin browsing the courses and programs that meet your individual learning goals. 

NOTE: If you already have a Coursera account, you will be prompted to merge your existing and Career Academy accounts. 

Courses are self-paced and learners can commit time according to their own schedules. Most courses take three to six months to complete, with approximately five hours of study per week.

Frequently Asked Questions 

  • Who is allowed to use Wright State and Coursera’s Career Academy?

    Current students, current faculty and current staff are invited at no cost.  

  • Will I receive course credit from Coursera Career Academy on my official college transcript by completing a course?

    At this time, courses and specializations provided on Coursera are not credit-bearing, and will not provide college transcript credit. The certificate provided is through Coursera only, but it is suggested that you add this to your resume and LinkedIn profile. 

  • How much does it cost to take a course or earn a course certificate on Coursera?

    All of the Coursera courses and specializations, within the Wright State’s Career Academy are at no cost for current students, faculty and staff. 

  • How are Coursera Career Academy classes formatted? Do I have to show up at a certain time?

    All of the classes are asynchronous, so that you can review content anywhere and at any time. Some Coursera courses have a syllabus that indicates additional expectations. 

  • I'm a Wright State faculty member. How can I incorporate Coursera in my curriculum?
