Bob Batson named Certified Financial Planner -- Bob Batson, CFP®, director of Advancement Services and Planned Giving at Wright State University, has been authorized as a Certified Financial Planner by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. A Wright State employee since April 2000, Batson is responsible for support services provided to the university’s professional fund raising staff and gift planning services for donors.(01/30/2004)

Five Rivers Poetry Project to increase poetry appreciation in Dayton community -- The Five Rivers Poetry Project is a community initiative that hopes to improve literacy in the Dayton area through five programs that aim to increase the appreciation of poetry. Mary Beth Pringle, Ph.D., professor of English at Wright State University, along with Adrienne Cassel, an instructional designer in the university’s Center for Teaching and Learning, received a Literacy Grant from the Phi Kappa Phi honor society to champion literacy issues. Wright State involved in workshop to help children in domestic violence situations -- A workshop series dealing with children who witness violence is scheduled in January and February as a joint project resulting from a community planning process led by the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton and involving more than 10 community agencies.(01/14/2004)

WSU cognitive psychologist part of Mars mission project for NASA -- A Wright State University faculty member involved in the NASA Mars mission will head for California this week for sabbatical study at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena.
