Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Nicholas Kristof to speak at WSU -- Nicholas D. Kristof, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and columnist for The New York Times, will present a free public lecture at Wright State University on Jan. 26 about his experiences reporting on human rights issues around the world. The lecture, which begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room on campus, is part of WSU's 2008-2009 Presidential Lecture Series and is the keynote address for the 2009 University Honors Institute.(01/23/2009) Paintings and drawings of the late Kimmerly Kiser, 2009 Faculty Exhibition opens Sunday at WSU -- A free memorial exhibition of the late Kimmerly Kiser's still-life paintings, portraits and drawings will be held Jan. 25 through March 8, 2009, in the Robert & Elaine Stein Galleries at Wright State. Kiser was an associate professor of art and art history at Wright State from 1969 until his retirement 1995. He continued teaching until his passing in 2006 in Yellow Springs.
Showing concurrently will be the 2009 Faculty Exhibition of artwork by faculty members Penny Park, painter and associate professor of art and art history; Stefan Chinov, sculptor and assistant professor of art and art history; and Ron Geibert, photography professor emeritus.(01/20/2009) Danny Glover to speak at WSU for lecture series -- Danny Glover, acclaimed actor, producer and leading social activist, will give a free lecture Jan. 22 as part of the Wright State University 2008–2009 Presidential Lecture Series, "Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Academic Inquiry." Glover's lecture is presented in partnership with the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.(01/15/2009) State-Wide Free Financial Aid Event to be held at Wright State University Lake Campus -- Wright State University Lake Campus will host the state-wide college financial aid event “College Goal Sunday” (CGS) on February 8, 2009 at 2 p.m. The free event, presented by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) and endorsed by the Ohio Board of Regents, assists students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the federal application that is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as the need-based state grants.(01/15/2009) Wright State celebrates Beavercreek Night -- Wright State University celebrates the city of Beavercreek on Thursday, Jan. 22, with an evening of fun-filled events and a chance to see the Wright State Raiders in action. Special events include a pre-game dinner at the Nutter Center, a WSU men’s basketball game against Loyola and more. All these events are planned to honor the Beavercreek community and bring their residents and students together at Wright State for an evening of fun and goodwill.(01/15/2009) Wright State welcomes "Year of the Ox" with New Year celebration -- Wright State University will usher in the "Year of the Ox" at its annual Chinese and Vietnamese New Year's Celebration. The event will take place on Thursday, Jan. 22, 11:45 a.m.–2:00 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room and is presented by the Asian/Hispanic/Native American Center.(01/13/2009)
