Summer enrichment courses set at Wright State for kindergarten-12th grade students -- It’s not too early to consider summer enrichment programs planned at Wright State University for kindergarten through 12th grade students. The Office of Pre-College Programs offers a variety of week long learning opportunities that will begin on June 11.

A new Ohio Certified Public Manager Program (OCPM) cohort will begin April 20. Moses Blvd. The program is free to the public as part of Black History Month.(02/22/2007) Lecture at Wright State explores how Jews, Christians differ on interpreting the Psalms -- Eric Friedland, the Sanders professor emeritus of religion at Wright State University, will present “Do We Have a Common Biblical Language Anymore? Jews, Christians and the Psalms,” during the College of Liberal Arts Winter Faculty Lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Discovery Room.(02/20/2007) Proposals sought for statewide Quest conference on diversity -- Proposals are being sought for the seventh annual statewide “Quest for Community: A Call to Action” conference at Wright State University. The proposal deadline has been extended to Friday, March 2, from Friday, Feb. 23, because of adverse weather in recent weeks.
(02/20/2007) Noted pianist Leon Bates featured in two performances, presentation on African American musicians -- Internationally acclaimed pianist Leon Bates, a Dayton regular, will be featured in two upcoming performances as an Artist-in-Residence at Wright State University. Bates, who has thrilled audiences throughout the world for more than 20 years, will perform on Sunday, Feb. 25, and Monday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Creative Arts Center Concert Hall. His many fans in the Miami Valley are happy to welcome him back.

(02/15/2007) Wright State University alumni to reconnect, recollect and reminisce during all-class reunion weekend -- To celebrate Wright State University’s 40th anniversary, the Wright State University Alumni Association is hosting the first-ever all-class reunion Thursday, Feb. 15–Saturday, Feb. 17. Events will include a reunion banquet recognizing Wright State’s first graduating class; “Rowdy Gras,” a New Orleans Monte Carlo Night; presentation of the College Outstanding Alumni Awards; a reunion for all former athletes and more. WSU workshop can get you started -- The Wright State University Libraries—one of 85 nationwide locations of federal government patent and trademark resources—is again helping budding inventors learn what it takes to receive a patent for their ideas. A free trademark research workshop is Saturday, Feb. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Room 241 of the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library on campus.(02/09/2007) Wright State celebrates 31st annual Fairborn Night -- Looking for a special night out for Valentine’s Day? Bring your sweetheart to Wright State University’s 31st annual Fairborn Night on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The annual event celebrates the city of Fairborn with an evening of fun-filled events and a chance to see the Wright State Raiders in action. Special events include a pre-game dinner at the Nutter Center, a WSU men’s basketball game against Cleveland State, a fundraiser for the American Heart Association and more. All these events are planned to honor the Fairborn community and bring their residents and students together at Wright State for an evening of fun and goodwill.(02/09/2007) Wright State, Sinclair collaborate on $2 million NSF grant to provide more science, engineering professionals -- Wright State University and Sinclair Community College today joined forces to launch a local initiative to increase the number of students pursuing careers science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). A National Science Foundation (NSF) grant of $2 million over five years is funding the project.(02/06/2007) Wright State Kuumba Festival to celebrate African American arts -- In celebration of Black History Month and the culture of music, the Third Annual Kuumba Festival: Black Music Anthology at Wright State University will celebrate the creativity of African and African American music. Poetry workshops, a photography exhibit, dancing, authentic African food and more are part of the event, which is Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the Student Union Apollo Room on campus. (02/05/2007) Actress, choreographer Rosie Perez to visit Wright State University -- Rosie Perez, nominated for Academy and Emmy awards for her acting and choreography, and who recently directed her first documentary, will speak on campus for Women’s History Month Monday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in the Millett Hall Atrium. Her new documentary, ¡Yo Soy Boricua, pa’ que tu lo sepas! (I’m Puerto Rican, Just So You Know!), will be shown twice on March 5: at noon in 162 Millett and at 5 p.m. in the Millett Hall Lobby.(02/02/2007) Stories of family humor by Today Show reporter Mike Leonard highlight Parents’ Weekend at Wright State -- Imagine the funny stories that would result from a lengthy road trip with your family. Mike Leonard, the popular NBC television reporter on the Today Show, recounted many of these in a recent book that covered a 30-day road trip in an RV with his parents and grown children. He will share many of these stories in a humorous and entertaining Wright State University presentation on family life at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, in the Student Union Apollo Room. His talk is free, open to the public and will be followed by a book signing.

The solutions and inventions of young minds will be on display Saturday, Feb. 3, during the Second Annual Invention Convention in the Wright State University Student Union.(02/01/2007) Check out college, careers during special event at Wright State -- High school students can have fun exploring the world of engineering and computer science and have their questions answered when Wright State University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science hosts Engineering and Computer Science Day on Monday, Feb. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. on the first floor of the Russ Engineering Center on campus.
