WSU student newspaper earns “All-American” ranking from Associated Collegiate Press -- Wright State University’s weekly student newspaper, The Guardian, earned the “All-American” ranking, the highest rating possible from the national Associated Collegiate Press (ACP). WSU political scientist Liam Anderson predicts the future of Iraq -- Liam Anderson, Ph.D., predicts that when the U.S. hands over power to the Iraqis there will be a lot of hands extended to take the political reigns. Pre-College programs available this summer for K–12 students at Wright State University -- Wright State University’s Office of Pre-College Programs is offering a summer of educational enrichment programs for students in grades K–12. Anthony D’Souza receives alumni award from WSU School of Professional Psychology -- Anthony D’Souza, Psy.D., psychologist, is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University School of Professional Psychology. After graduating from Wright State in 1994, D’Souza completed a specially arranged postdoctoral fellowship in India. He devotes much of his time helping destitute children and families of Bombay. D’Souza supported a school that fed children and gave support to families in order to get the children off the streets, away from exploitation and into the classroom. In addition, he spent much time serving poor people in one of the country’s largest slums in Bombay.(03/08/2004)

Brian Cooper receives outstanding alumni award from Wright State School of Graduate Studies -- Brian Cooper, chief operating officer of Cox Ohio Publishing, Inc., and general manager of the Dayton Daily News, is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University School of Graduate Studies. Cooper earned a bachelor’s degree from Wright State in 1981 and a M.B.A. in 1986.(03/08/2004)

David S. Gutridge receives outstanding alumni award from Wright State Raj Soin College of Business -- David S. Gutridge, CEO of MTC Technologies, Inc., (MTCT), is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business. MTCT is a nearly $200 million provider of engineering and information technology services to the Department of Defense and various intelligence agencies.(03/08/2004)

David A. Strobhar receives outstanding alumni award from WSU College of Engineering and Computer Science -- David A. Strobhar, P. E., founder and president of Beville Engineering, Inc., is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University College of Engineering and Computer Science. Beville Engineering is the leading supplier of human factors engineering services to oil and chemical processing companies around the world. Having completed projects at both the southern tip of Australia and the North Slope of Alaska, Strobhar, a 1980 Wright State graduate, has literally worked from one end of the globe to the other. Jim Baldridge receives outstanding alumni award from Wright State University College of Liberal Arts -- Jim Baldridge, co-anchor for Newscenter 7 on WHIO-TV in Dayton, is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University College of Liberal Arts. Since joining WHIO-TV in 1972 as a general assignment reporter, Baldridge, a 1983 Wright State graduate, has covered local stories and traveled the world covering stories important to the Dayton area. Special assignments have taken him to China, Vietnam, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Japan, Colombia, and throughout Europe.(03/08/2004)

David L. Roer receives outstanding alumni award from Wright State University School of Medicine -- David L. Roer, M.D., pediatrician, founder and co-owner of Pediatric Associates of Dayton, Inc., is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University School of Medicine. A 1984 Wright State graduate, Roer is also a voluntary faculty member, serving as a clinical assistant professor with the School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics. He has served on the Centerville City School Board since 1994, with duties as President in 1997 and 2001. Out of concern for high rates of child obesity, he spearheaded the effort to remove soda from the Centerville schools.(03/08/2004)

Karen M. Wolf receives outstanding alumni award from WSU College of Education and Human Services -- Karen M. Wolf, chair of the business department at West Carrollton High School, is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University College of Education and Human Services. Wolf, who earned a bachelor’s degree in 1972 and a master’s degree in 1981 from Wright State, has received the Dickinson T. Guiler Award for Excellence in Education and 20 significant teacher awards from the West Carrollton Educational Recognition Association. She has earned National Board of Professional Teachers (NBPTS) certification and is an Ohio School NET Trainer. (03/08/2004)

Susan A. Newton receives outstanding alumni award from WSU-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health -- Susan A. Newton, field manager, Oncology Nursing at Ortho Biotech Oncology, is the Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the WSU-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health. A 1990 Wright State graduate, Newton earned her M.S. in Oncology Nursing from the University of South Florida in 1995. Her position provides the education oncology nurses need to help patients diagnosed with cancer. (03/08/2004)

Deborah A. Loewer receives outstanding alumni award from Wright State College of Science and Mathematics -- Deborah A. Loewer, Ph.D., Rear Adm. (Select), Vice Commander for Military Sealift Command, U.S. Navy, is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University College of Science and Mathematics. Loewer, a 1976 Wright State graduate, also earned a Ph.D. in International Law from the University of Kiel in Kiel, Germany. Following her selection as an Olmsted Scholar, she has attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif., and the Goethe Institute in Stuttgart, Germany. (03/08/2004)

Terrance R. Liette receives outstanding alumni award from Wright State University Lake Campus -- Terrance R. Liette, P.E., executive director of Fanning/Howey Associates, Inc., Celina, is the 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award winner from the Wright State University Lake Campus. Liette, who earned an associate’s degree in 1983 and a bachelor’s degree in 1991 from Wright State, has 23 years of experience in educational facility planning, design and management. Liette led the “Steps for Success” process for 61 Ohio school districts. He has managed over 40 Ohio School Facilities Commission-funded school projects. (03/08/2004)
