Summer program instructors sought at Wright State University for K–12 classes -- The Office of Pre-College Programs at Wright State University is seeking instructors for this summer’s academic enrichment programs for K–12 students.(03/31/2005)

Wright State’s International Friendship Affair to celebrate legends around the world -- For over 20 years, Wright State University’s International Friendship Affair (IFA) has built connections between Wright State’s international community and the surrounding Dayton area. The theme for the 21st annual IFA will be “Legends of the World.” Scheduled for Saturday, April 9, from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Student Union Atrium, the event will focus on the unique legends originating from each country’s historical, mythical, folkloric or traditional events of the past.(03/28/2005)

Famous physicist, author of best-selling book on Star Trek to speak at WSU World Year of Physics lecture -- A world-famous physicist and author of the best-selling book The Physics of Star Trek is coming to Wright State University for a free, public lecture on the book. Lawrence Krauss, Ph.D., chair of the Case Western Reserve University Physics Department, will discuss his Star Trek book at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, in the Apollo Room of the Student Union. His national bestseller has sold more than 200,000 copies, been translated into 13 different langauages and received widespread critical acclaim. (03/28/2005)

Wright State students make handmade blankets to give to needy children through Project Linus -- Students at Wright State University recently made more than 200 blankets that they have donated to needy children in the Dayton community. The activity is part of the nationwide Project Linus that is named after the classic Peanuts comic strip character with a fondness for his blanket.(03/23/2005)

Wright State to host workshop on Internet sales and marketing -- The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Wright State University will sponsor “How to Get Traffic to Your Web Site and What To Do When It Gets There: The Basics of Internet Marketing,” a workshop to be held Thursday, April 14, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Atlantis Room, E157 Student Union on the Wright State campus. Topics to be covered include: how to get quality traffic to your Web site, how to design a Web site to convert your traffic to sales and leads, simple ways to measure the performance of your Web site, how to beat your competition online and winning strategies for Internet success.(03/23/2005)

Chris Kershner named Alumnus of the Year by the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars -- Christopher Kershner, special assistant to Ohio Speaker of the House Jon Husted and a 2000 graduate of Wright State University, was named Alumnus of the year by the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. Wright State to host acclaimed filmmaker and international relief worker Ellen Bruno -- Wright State University will host the award-winning documentary filmmaker and international relief worker Ellen Bruno as the featured speaker for the 2005 Piediscalzi Lecture sponsored by the Department of Religion. Bruno will screen and discuss her film, Satya: A Prayer for the Enemy, which profiles Tibetan Buddhist nuns and their spiritual resistance to Chinese oppression, on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in 112 Oelman Hall. On Wednesday, April 13, from 12:15 to 1:20 p.m., Bruno will give an honors colloquium/brown bag lunch presentation in 144 Rike Hall. Both events are free and open to the public. (03/02/2005)
