Wright State Women’s Studies Lecture Series to host sociologist, author, Michael Kimmel -- Although a bestselling book asserts that men and women are so different that they might as well be from different planets, Michael Kimmel, Ph.D.—a sociologist and author who has received international recognition for his work on men and masculinity—has a different view. He believes that women and men are similar and that men should support gender equality. Kimmel will discuss gender issues involving the workplace, friendship, privilege, fatherhood, sex, love, health and sexual assault when he presents “Mars and Venus, or Planet Earth: Women and Men on Campus in the New Millennium” as part of the Women’s Studies Lecture Series at Wright State University on Wednesday, April 11, at 5 p.m. in the Millett Hall Atrium on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The results of his efforts will spur economic development through the creation of high-tech jobs and the emergence of new information technology companies. (03/27/2007) Actor, activist Edward James Olmos to speak at Wright State as Presidential Lecturer -- Highly acclaimed actor, producer, director and activist Edward James Olmos will speak at Wright State University on Thursday, April 12, on the topic “We’re All in the Same Gang.”(03/27/2007) Portraits, scenes of China comprise art exhibit as part of Asian Heritage Month at Wright State -- Paintings by Chinese artist Yan Sun will be on display in the Wright State University Student Union Gallery from April 2 to April 27 as part of Asian Heritage Month at the university. A lecture by Sun on the nature, content and inspiration for his work is scheduled for Thursday, April 12, at 1:15 p.m. in the Student Union Pathfinder Lounge. (03/26/2007) Digital images by Florida artist, changes in photography comprise art exhibit at Wright State -- An art exhibit featuring creative digital prints by Florida photographer Maggie Taylor and selections from the new Wright State University Art Galleries DVD publication “Photography Now: one hundred portfolios” opens on Tuesday, March 27, at Wright State. A lecture by Taylor will be presented on Sunday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m. in M252 Creative Art Center. Red Tail Reborn, a documentary film on their history directed by Wright State University film graduate Adam White, will have its Dayton debut on Thursday, March 22. (03/14/2007) Wright State partners with engineering firm to enhance operations in petrochemical industry -- Wright State University today announced a partnership with a local engineering firm to develop a Center for Operator Performance to enhance personnel operations in the petrochemical industry. The WSU College of Engineering and Computer Science is partnering with Beville Engineering, a human factors engineering consulting company in Dayton, to develop the center as a forum on human factors engineering and operator performance.
