Freakonomics co-author Stephen Dubner to speak at WSU -- (03/31/2009) James Ebert, M.D., assumes key leadership role within the WSU Boonshoft School of Medicine -- James R. Ebert, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., F.A.A.P., has been named the Oscar Boonshoft Chair and Director of the Center for Global Health Systems, Management and Policy at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.(03/30/2009) Quarters to Semesters: Wright State will make the change to new academic calendar -- A proposal to convert Wright State University's academic calendar from the quarter system to semesters was approved by the university's Board of Trustees at its March 27 meeting. The university's Exploratory Committee on the Transition from Quarters to Semesters will maintain a website with updated information at www.wright.edu/semesters.

The IFA is Wright State's largest international event and the second largest in the Dayton area. The theme for this year's event is "Celebrating Family."(03/19/2009) STEM Academy: Regional collaboration results in unique opportunity for 30 students -- Wright State University's main and Lake Campuses, Clark State Community College and Sinclair Community College have teamed up with 11 area high schools, three elementary schools and four corporate and industry partners to create the Dayton Regional Summer STEM Academy (DRSSA), to be offered July 20–August 7, 2009. Funded through the Ohio Board of Regents' initiative called The Regents STEM and Foreign Language Academies, DRSSA will offer a three-week residential, innovative interdisciplinary curriculum in mathematics, engineering, biological sciences and technology to 30 high school juniors and seniors from the 11 participating rural, urban and suburban schools.
(03/19/2009) Match Day represents milestone, turning point for students of the WSU Boonshoft School of Medicine -- After nearly four years of intensive training, 97 medical students in the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Class of 2009 learned today which residency programs they will enter following their graduation in May.(03/19/2009) Wright State awards $1.9 million to need-based students -- Many Wright State undergraduates will find that getting a college degree is less of a financial burden thanks to an announcement this week that the university is making almost $2 million available for need-based grants—not loans. This year, rather than awarding loans to undergraduate, need-based students, the university will award grants. Incoming Wright State students will receive their financial aid notification later this week. Continuing students are notified in May.(03/17/2009) $2.7 million Choose Ohio First scholarships announced Friday target students with disabilities -- Nearly $2.7 million in Choose Ohio First scholarships will soon become available to graduating high school and current college students with disabilities interested in pursuing careers in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics at five area colleges and universities. A collaboration led by Wright State University and including Ohio State University, Sinclair Community College, Clark State Community College and Columbus State Community College, will share the $2.687 million in Choose Ohio First scholarships awarded Friday, March 13, to attract and graduate more than 300 students with disabilities in STEM majors over a five-year period.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m.(03/12/2009) Wright State's "green" building takes Gold -- The Matthew O. Diggs III Laboratory for Life Science Research is now officially rated Gold by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.
