Manal Al-hasawi and Krishan Joshi receive new international awards presented by Wright State -- The University Center for International Education (UCIE) at Wright State University recently presented two new awards during the International Friendship Affair on campus. Manal Al-hasawi, a Wright State student, received the Global Citizen Award and Krishan Joshi, founder and chair of UES, Inc., received the International Student/Scholar Advocate Award.(04/27/2007)

Learn more about AIDS during Drop in Day at Wright State -- It has been 25 years since HIV/AIDS was declared a global epidemic. Wright State University will observe AIDS Awareness Week during the week of May 7. The College of Liberal Arts, in cooperation with HIV/AIDS coordinators from Montgomery and Greene Counties, will sponsor an AIDS Awareness Drop in Day open to the public on Wednesday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Millett Hall Atrium on campus. Pioneer test pilot Robert Gilliland to speak at Wright State -- The Lockheed SR-71, more commonly known as the “Blackbird,” is one of the most spectacular aircraft ever built. It is a long range, supersonic reconnaissance aircraft capable of flying at Mach 3.2—more than three times the speed of sound. Robert Gilliland, the plane’s first test pilot, will share the Blackbird’s colorful history at Wright State University on Monday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m., in the Berry Room of the Nutter Center on campus. This special program of the Huffman Prairie Aviation History Society is sponsored by the Wright State University Libraries, its Special Collections and Archives unit and the Dayton/Cincinnati section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Wright State students bring home first place in national management case competition -- MBA students from the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business once again garnered top honors at the 2007 Society for Advancement of Management nationwide case competition. Voice of Bart Simpson speaks at Wright State -- Nancy Cartwright, a Kettering native and the voice for popular Fox television sitcom character Bart Simpson, will speak at Wright State on Sunday, April 29. Her 7 p.m. address in the Student Union Apollo Room will be free for Wright State students, faculty, staff and the military, with a $5 per person fee for the general public. Nuclear weapons expert David Albright to speak at Wright State University -- The complex issues the world faces in dealing with Iran will be discussed when David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) in Washington, D.C., and a Wright State University graduate, presents “Will Iran go Nuclear? Difficult Choices Ahead” on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room on the Wright State campus. WSU STEM Institute allows high schoolers to explore sciences and engineering -- High school juniors and seniors interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can spend three weeks this summer exploring physical and natural sciences and engineering during the STEM Institute offered by the Wright State University Office of Pre-College Programs, College of Science and Mathematics and College of Engineering and Computer Science. Open to eligible Ohio high school juniors and seniors, the rigorous and intensive STEM Institute will include units in trigonometry, metrics, electricity and renewable energy, engineering principles and more.
