Lucrative internship for two WSU students working with defense-related agencies -- Dan Johnson and fellow Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business student Danielle Thompson were selected as two of 85 nationwide participants for the prestigious Norm Mineta Internship Program in Washington, D.C. More than 400 applicants sought the 10-week positions. (06/26/2006) Bullying in workplace hurts employees, employers says WSU psychology professor in landmark study -- “Bullying in the Workplace: It’s Bad for Workers and Their Employers” by Nathan Bowling, Ph.D., an assistant professor of psychology at Wright State University, and Terry Beehr of Central Michigan University will be published later this year in the Journal of Applied Psychology.
(06/21/2006) Exploring trademarks–it’s all in a name -- The Wright State University Libraries is offering a free trademark workshop for persons interested in knowing more about trademarks. The workshop is Saturday, June 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Room 241 of the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library on the WSU campus.(06/16/2006) Mindy McNutt takes the reins at the Lake Campus -- Mindy McNutt, Ph.D., associate professor and program coordinator of organizational leadership (OL) at Wright State University (WSU)-Lake Campus, has been appointed Dean of the Lake Campus and assumes the post on June 12. She replaces Anita Curry-Jackson, Ph.D., who leaves the Lake Campus after 4 years to return to WSU-Dayton, where she will embark on a new role as Associate Provost for University Partnerships and Assessment.(06/14/2006) WSU partners with new agency to provide education assistance to residents plagued with financial woes -- Rising consumer debt, deceptive lending practices and low savings rates are growing both locally and nationally. To help low and moderate income residents cope with these challenges, the Federal Reserve Bank has joined forces with private sector financial institutions, the Community Reinvestment Institute Alumni Association (CRIAA), Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business and area nonprofits to create the Financial Education Partnership of the Miami Valley (FEPMV).(06/14/2006) $200,000 in engineering scholarships awarded by Wright State at Intel international competition -- More than 1,500 of tomorrow’s brightest ninth to 12th graders from more than 40 nations recently attended the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Indianapolis, Ind. Now, five of these students have been invited to attend the Wright State University College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) on full scholarships.(06/14/2006) Fusion technology applied to war zone security wins professor award -- Lang Hong, Ph.D., a Wright State University professor whose research has applications for protecting troops in Iraq as well as automobile and airline passengers is the 2006 winner of the Trustees’ Award for Faculty Excellence. A professor of electrical engineering, Hong is the winner of the award presented annually to outstanding full-time, fully affiliated faculty who demonstrate a sustained and balanced contribution to Wright State's teaching, research and professional service mission.(06/9/2006) Wright State grads to celebrate commencement June 10 -- Wright State University will hold its 39th semiannual commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 10, at 10 a.m. in the Ervin J. Nutter Center on campus. The event will include presentation of an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree to Ambassador Tony Hall, former ambassador to the United Nations for Food and Agricultural Agencies and former representative of Ohio’s 3rd Congressional District for 24 years.
