Mary Ann Drewry named executive director of Ellis Institute at WSU School of Professional Psychology -- Mary Ann Drewry has been named the Executive Director of the Duke E. Ellis Human Development Institute at the Wright State University School of Professional Psychology.(06/29/2009) Wright State University faculty member selected as HP Innovation Research Award Recipient -- Amit Sheth, LexisNexis Ohio Eminent Scholar at Wright State University and computer science and engineering professor, has been selected as one of 60 professors to receive an award as part of HP’s 2009 Innovation Research Program. The program is designed to create opportunities for colleges, universities and research institutes around the world to conduct breakthrough collaborative research with HP. (06/26/2009) WSU symposium brings together leading neuroscientists from around the world to honor Dr. Lorne Mendell -- Neuroscientists from top universities and private institutions throughout North America will join colleagues from as far away as the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Australia to discuss their research and pay tribute to Dr. Mendell during a series of presentations and panel discussions hosted by Wright State's Boonshoft School of Medicine, June 18 and 19.
The symposium, entitled "Mechanisms of Plasticity in Neuronal Connections." will take place in the Ponitz Sinclair Center on the campus of Sinclair Community College in downtown Dayton. Presentations will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. The symposium is free and open to the public, but meals will not be provided.(06/16/2009) Saturday's Latino job fair includes recognitions, scholarships -- A Wright State University administrator will be recognized and seven students will receive scholarships at a luncheon Saturday, June 20, when Wright State partners with the Dayton Council of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) at the Diversity Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ervin J. Nutter Center (06/16/2009) Wright State University honors alumni for achievements -- Eight Wright State graduates were recognized recently at the university's Alumni Achievement Awards Ceremony. The WSU Alumni Association annually honors former students who have gone on to make exceptional contributions to their professional fields while giving back to their communities. This year's award winners represent the positive impact that Wright State University's 85,000 alumni have on the Dayton area and the world.(06/12/2009) Wright State celebrates 43rd semiannual commencement Saturday -- More than 2,200 degrees will be bestowed on graduating Wright State students at the university's 43rd semiannual commencement ceremony Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m., in the Ervin J. Nutter Center. (06/11/2009) Reynolds and Reynolds and Wright State University Create Scholarship Program for Outstanding Computer Science Students -- The Reynolds and Reynolds Company today announced the recipients of scholarship awards from the Reynolds and Reynolds Leadership Scholars Program at Wright State University. Reynolds recently established the new scholarship program for outstanding students entering the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Wright State. Each year, up to five incoming first-year computer science students will receive a scholarship from the Reynolds and Reynolds Leadership Scholars Program, and each scholarship is renewable for up to three years. (06/10/2009) Wright State biomedical engineering grad Harvard-bound -- James Dahlman, a graduating senior in biomedical engineering from Wright State, was awarded the prestigious National Defense Science and Engineering (NDSEG) Fellowship, as well as the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF). These two awards will provide funding for him to attend the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, where he will pursue a Ph.D. in medical engineering with a focus on targeted drug delivery systems to treat cancer patients.(06/10/2009) Rwandan refugee and WSU grad focused on helping others -- For Loic Ndamukijumukiza, the road to a Wright State nursing degree started in Rwandan refugee camps. While desperately trying to help hundreds of Rwandan genocide victims, he witnessed many deaths due to inadequate health care. It was there that Loic, not yet 14 years old and separated from his family, began to dream of becoming a health care professional. (06/10/2009) Renewable and Clean Energy featured at Wright State open house for green businesses -- An open house featuring Ohio's new Renewable and Clean Energy Master's Degree Program will be held Thursday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Endeavor Room.
