InventorFest at WSU focuses on patents, inventions -- Once you get a patent, what is the next step? How important is developing business and marketing plans for your invention? Answers to these questions—and many more—will be provided when Wright State University Libraries hosts InventorFest 2005, a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. patent and marketing trade show on Saturday, Oct. 1, in the WSU Student Union. WSU faculty member named fellow of Geological Society of America -- Robert Ritzi Jr., Ph.D., a professor of hydrogeology at Wright State University, has spent more than 20 years investigating groundwater pollution. His efforts were recently rewarded with selection as a fellow of the Geological Society of America (GSA).(09/27/2005)

Controversial Chinese concerto topic for COLA lecture at Wright State -- Learn the story about how the Yellow River Concerto escaped China's Cultural Revolution to become a treasured masterpiece of the country's cultural history when Jackson Leung, D.M.A., an associate professor of music at Wright State University, presents “Yellow River Piano Concerto: Politics and Piano Music in China during the Cultural Revolution,” on Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Millett Hall Atrium at 6 p.m. As part of the Wright State University College of Liberal Arts (COLA) faculty lecture series, the presentation will be free and open to the public. Wright State seeks proposals and instructors for Discovery Enrichment Program -- The Office of Pre-College Programs at Wright State University is currently conducting a “Call for Proposals” for the Summer 2006 Discovery Enrichment Program. Youth violence topic of annual Youth and Family Fall Forum -- The Fourth Annual Youth and Family Fall Forum will host a series of workshops for youth and parents to address youth violence. Sponsored by National City Bank, the Wright State University Office of Pre-College Programs, the Dayton Public Schools, the United Way of Greater Dayton and Parity Inc., the event will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Building 12 at Sinclair Community College. Business on the golf course among topics for networking seminar scheduled at Wright State -- Networking and other business tools will be explored in a business networking seminar on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Wright State University where one of 12 breakout sessions includes networking on the golf course. Wright State University celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month -- In September and October, Wright State University, through its Asian/Hispanic/Native American Center, is sponsoring a variety of colorful, fun and informative events in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Enroll them in Wright State University’s swimming lessons beginning this month. Sponsored by the Wright State Swim Team, the classes are open to swimmers of any ability, ages four and up. Wright State University Libraries to host “The International Origins of Flight” -- Aviation enthusiasts, historians, pilots, students and the general public are invited to “The International Origins of Flight,” a unique one-day conference at Wright State University honoring the centennial of practical flight at Huffman Prairie in Dayton. Sponsored by the University Libraries and the University Center for International Education, the event features speakers from the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., as well as Brazil, France and England. Wright State open house lucky event for Debra Rolland -- Debra Rolland was familiar with Wright State, having earned her bachelor’s degree here in nursing last year. Along the way she earned nursing department honors and cum laude designation for her 3.72 GPA.
