Wright State symposium to explore spirituality, health, Jewish Science movement -- Ellen Umansky, Ph.D., a prominent author of books and essays on women in Judaism and Jewish history and thought, will speak at the Annual Ryterband Symposium on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Student Union Endeavour Room at Wright State University. Wilkins to highlight WSU celebration of 40th anniversary of Voting Rights Act -- Roger Wilkins, an award-winning journalist and human rights activist, will discuss “The Significance of the Voting Rights Act of 1965” on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room at Wright State University. WSU Kristallnacht Lecture to focus on Denmark and the Holocaust -- During the German occupation of Denmark during World War II, almost 8,000 Jews in Denmark, helped by large numbers of Danish citizens, were able to escape the Holocaust. Gustav Goldberger will present the details of this exceptional episode of World War II during the Annual Kristallnacht Lecture at Wright State University on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m., in the Endeavour Room, E156 Student Union on campus. Wright State University Friends of the Libraries’ lecture to reflect on Dayton Peace Accords -- In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords, Donna Schlagheck, chair of the Department of Political Science at Wright State University, will present “Dayton: A Peace Process” for the Wright State University Friends of the Libraries’ Lecture Series. The free talk and reception will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library.(10/26/2005)

Wright State Art Galleries to host David Johnson -- The Wright State University Art Galleries is hosting “David Johnson: Prints, Drawings, Books” beginning Sunday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, in the University Art Galleries in the Creative Arts Center. Johnson will discuss his work on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2:30 p.m. in room M252 of the Creative Arts Center. A reception will follow at 4 p.m. in room A132 of the Creative Arts Center. David will also be conducting a color intaglio printing demonstration on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. in A026 Creative Arts Center. Young’s Jersey Dairy CEO to speak at WSU Human Resource Lecture Series -- Dan Young, CEO and “Chief Ice Cream Dipper” for Young’s Jersey Dairy and a 1997 graduate of Wright State University’s M.B.A. program, will present “We Create Fun for Our Customers: The Young’s Jersey Dairy Journey” to kick off the 15th year of the Human Resource Lecture Series sponsored by the Raj Soin College of Business and Right Management Consultants. Wright State hosts 31st Annual Research on Women and Education conference -- Wright State is hosting the Research on Women and Education’s (RWE) 31st Annual Fall Conference, from Thursday, Oct. 20, through Saturday, Oct. 22. The conference theme, “In Search of My Mother’s Garden, I Found my Own: Celebrating the Past, Honoring the Present and Preparing for the Future” is a celebration of research and practice that focuses on women and girls at the intersection of race, class, gender and culture. WSU rings opening bell on state-of-the-art MTC Technologies Trading Center -- The opening bell rang today at Wright State University’s state-of-the-art MTC Technologies Trading Center. The new center will significantly advance business education at the WSU Raj Soin College of Business by providing students with the knowledge base for leading positions in asset management, investment banking and corporate finance.(10/24/2005)

WSU Cameos of Caring recognizes 15 exceptional nurses -- Outstanding nurses from the Dayton region were honored recently by area health care providers during the Wright State University–Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health’s fifth annual Cameos of Caring awards gala. Wright State to host workshop on Internet sales and marketing -- The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Wright State University will sponsor “How To Get Traffic To Your Web Site and What To Do When It Gets There: The Key to Successful Internet Marketing,” a workshop to be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Atlantis Room, E157 Student Union on campus. Topics to be covered include: how to get quality traffic to your Web site, how to design a Web site to convert your traffic to sales and leads, simple ways to measure the performance of your Web site, how to beat your competition online and winning strategies for Internet success.(10/18/2005)

Wright State hosts Multicultural Halloween Celebration -- Many of the world’s fall holidays, including the Asian Indian Diwali, the Chinese and Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival, the Korea Chusok, the Japanese Bon Holiday, the Nigerian Yam Festival, the Mexican Day of the Dead and the Native American Fall Harvest, will be celebrated during Wright State University’s sixth annual Multicultural Halloween Celebration. The event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room on campus. WSU to host concert, lecture of Southwestern folk music -- As part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, Wright State University will host a concert and lecture by Ronstadt, Ramirez and the Santa Cruz River Band. Michael Ronstadt and Ted Ramirez, principal writers and artists of Ronstadt, Ramirez and the Santa Cruz River Band, will present “Southwestern Folk Music and its Mexican/Hispanic Roots,” on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 12:20 p.m. in the Discovery Room, E163 Student Union.
