WSU professor uses family story for book on religious tolerance -- Two sisters grow up in the same household with the same family and religious influences. Though the sisters remain close, they go their separate ways spiritually. How did two sisters start out so alike and end up so different, or are they really that different at all? These two women, the mother and aunt of Carol Morgan, Ph.D., associate professor of communication at Wright State University, are the subject of Morgan’s new book, We’re Not That Different: Two Sisters’ Religious and Spiritual Journeys. WSU doctorate student helps science researchers explore volcanos on ocean floor -- Jeff Smigelski, an environmental sciences doctorate student at Wright State University, was invited to spend 18 days with scientists on the research vessel Thompson that explored undersea volcanos in the Pacific Ocean. He served as a camera operator for an unmanned robotic submersible exploring black smoker chimneys on the ocean floor.(12/13/2005)

WSU engineering professor helps “eyes” in the sky identify enemy in war zones like Iraq -- In urban combat environments like Iraq, the need to identify potential attackers becomes the key to survival. American airfields and troop support areas must be as secure as possible to insure the safety of our military personnel. Lang Hong, Ph.D, a professor of electrical engineering at Wright State University, recently received a multi-year $150,000 grant to help support this mission. (12/06/2005)
