Accountancy
Major
[ Suggested Curriculum (PDF*) ]
Accounting provides financial information for evaluating the present and planned activities of complex organizations. It includes a range of services to individuals, businesses, and government at all levels. Few career fields offer as wide a variety of positions as accounting. Every institution, regardless of its size or structure, has an accounting function and employs the services of certified public accountants, auditors, tax advisors, certified management accountants, financial managers, and consultants.
- The accountancy major provides an excellent undergraduate background for students planning to go to law school or wishing to pursue graduate studies in other business disciplines.
- A fifth-year M.B.A. program is an option for students who wish to qualify to sit for the Ohio uniform CPA exam.
- The Accounting Leadership Program (ALP) emphasizes the development of professional business skills and business-world knowledge in addition to an extensive accounting background. ALP admits 20–25 students every year directly from high school. ALP students receive a minimum scholarship of $1,000 per year while in the program and in good academic standing.
