[ Suggested Curriculum (PDF*) ]
Finance can be defined as the art and science of managing money. Finance is concerned with the entire process of obtaining the money that organizations or individuals need, and spending and investing the money in the most efficient manner. Career opportunities can be divided into two major categories: finance, which focuses on managing the financial affairs of a business or other organization; and financial services, in which financial services are designed and delivered to other firms, organizations, and individuals.
- Internships and cooperative education programs provide qualified finance majors with professional training and experience not available in the classroom, including a capstone course in which students develop comprehensive financial plans for individuals or small business firms.
- The Finance Club sponsors tours and brings professional speakers to campus.
- Raider Asset Management provides students with the opportunity to learn about security investing. This student-managed portfolio has more than a 200 percent return on its investments.
