Modern Languages
Major/Minor
The Department of Modern Languages offers majors leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree in French, German, and Spanish. For students who prefer to concentrate on language skills rather than literary skills, it also offers a more general degree in modern languages, a program in which the student studies at least three foreign languages and gains an in-depth knowledge of one. Study abroad is strongly encouraged for students majoring in modern languages.
- Students who wish to earn licensure to teach French or Spanish in Ohio schools are required to complete the Bachelor of Arts in respective language and will then have to complete the graduate-level program in the College of Education and Human Services.
- Minors are available in French, German, and Spanish. Additionally basic courses in Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Russian are offered.
