Religion
Major/Minor
The Bachelor of Arts program in religion is comprehensive and nonsectarian in its approach. The academic study of religion emphasizes the study of various religious traditions; their history, thought, and social context; and moral and ritual expression. Majoring in religion is a way of preparing for a wide variety of professions and vocations and for developing those critical faculties of thought and expression needed in modern life.
- The religion major includes 14 core courses within six areas: American religion, African religion, biblical studies, philosophy of religion or ethics, Eastern religion, and Western religion.
- A dual major and minor are also available. Due to the number of electives within the religion major, students have the opportunity to focus their studies on specific areas of interest.
