Foundations for Tomorrow
From information systems to building foundations, Wright State is actively creating
the infrastructure to support a 21st century education. We have some wonderful
things in the works and others recently completed.
The introduction of the Banner Student software suite will help us improve our
system of processing new students. New buildings and facility enhancements across
campus will have an impact on units throughout the institution. The new ring
road around campus and reconfigured parking lots, along with construction on
the Joshi Research Center and the MTC Technologies Trading Center and the recently
completed Setzer Pavillion/Mills-Morgan Center, are outward signs of our recent
growth.
Other projects in the planning stages-such as updates to the Creative Arts Center,
construction of a new science building, changes at Lake Campus, reconfiguration
of the Frederick A. White Health Center, and renovation of the Student Union-follow
closely on the heels of the completion of University Hall and the phenomenal
changes we've seen in Millett and Allyn.
When you create an environment like the one we have at Wright State, great things
happen! We have an environment where people can feel good about the work they
do and where they can make a difference. To share the second
year Strategic Plan implementation results, we'll talk about peoples' work
and the impact it has made. Each unit has its own success stories to tell-stories
that illustrate how each and every one of you makes a difference in the lives
of Wright State students. Beginning today, we'll be sharing these stories on
this strategic planning Web site.
When we implemented the Strategic Plan, our initial emphasis was on the learning
experience expressed in goal one. Last year we looked at the outcomes of goal
two, our partnerships and collaborative efforts. In the coming year, we will
focus on goal three: how we are enhancing the quality of life in our community.
In future columns your vice presidents, deans, and directors will share news
of how we are taking the expertise of our faculty and the energy of our students
into the community to meet emerging areas of need.
As we move closer to our visit from the NCA accrediting team, we'll ask you to
visualize how your work is critical to the mission of the university. We'll also
be asking how we can continue to support your efforts. The Strategic Plan was
developed not as a static report, but as a vehicle to create an ongoing dialogue
that will help us all to better serve you, the students and the institution.
Please take a moment to read the following stories about your colleagues. It's
an opportunity to learn more about how we make learning come alive for Wright
State students.
