Homecoming Court 2008

Lisa Birch

Status: Senior

Major: Organizational Leadership

Sponsoring Organizations:  Greek Affairs Council, Delta Zeta

Move in day, my first all-nighter, midterm and college essay; all of these are small milestones in my life. I admit,
when I first came to these milestones, I was scared. Having experienced each one I am better for it. I enjoy studying,
living and being part of Wright State University. Somewhere along the way Wright State came to mean more to me
than just an education.  It is for all of this and more that I would like to have a chance to represent Wright State University
by being a member of Homecoming Court.

I'd be honored to be a member of this years homecoming court, because I'd like to represent what you can achieve
at this reputable university. I don't believe I would've had the opportunities I've been granted here at Wright State if I
had gone elsewhere.I take great pride in being an RA, UVC peer instructor and a member of three campus organizations,
because they've fostered the growth of woman I am today and will continue to grow into tomorrow. I'd love the chance
to share my experiences with our community to show why Wright State is the RIGHT university.

I am definitely interested in becoming a member of the Homecoming Court because I love Wright State. I try to get
involved with as many Wright State activities as I can manage to support the University and College of Engineering
I am President of Society of Women Engineers, a Student Ambassador for CECS, part of the Deans Leadership
Institute Program.  Previously, I have been a First Weekend Peer Leader, TA at the Academic Advantage Program,
and TA for different classes. For me, Wright State has been amazing in the academic realm as well as for finding life
long friends.

I am interested in being apart of the 2008-2009 Homecoming Court, because I enjoy being involved in campus.
If given this opportunity, then I would be able to extend my already extensive campus participation. Although, I have
no problems with organizational leadership and participation within the university I would like to show my school spirit
and pride more. To me, homecoming is an opportunity to meet new people, get more involved, and enhance my college
experience.

My name is Chelsea VanHorn and I would like to be Homecoming Queen because I think that the position would
be a testament to how dedicated I am to student organizations at Wright State. In the past two years, I have been
involved with the Residential Community Association, The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), The National
Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and the WSU House of Representatives. I am also a UVC 101 Peer Instructor
and Resident Assistant on campus, which enables me to lead freshmen down the path of getting involved on campus.

Since coming to Wright State University in the fall of 2005, my life has been a mosaic of involvement, devotion, and
endless amounts of fun. From being a part of the Greek Community, and everything in between, I can't help but be proud of
everything I have accomplished. This University and the joy it brings to not only myself, but I'm sure many of my fellow students,
is something that will remain irreplaceable. I'd like to be a part of the 2008-2009 Homecoming Court to give back to the
University and my classmates what it, and they have given to me: involvement, devotion, and of course, endless amounts of fun!

Wright State University is a community that embodies the spirit of leadership, academics, diversity and service to others.
These attributes are what defines Wright State University and are what characterize my personal standards. This is why
I believe that I could represent well the university as a candidate for the 2008-2009 Homecoming season, as I am
Wright State. I am Wright State because I exemplify the values this university epitomizes. I have contributed to the
Wright State community by collaborating on projects with the Bolinga Center, University Activities Board and Student
Activities. I have provided leadership to the campus community.

I would like to be Wright State University's Homecoming King because I'm FABULOUS!College life is fun and I
want to show all the people at WSU that Homecoming doesn't have to be boring; it can be the most amazing time
of the school year. With me as homecoming king there will NEVER be a dull moment. Life is too short to sit back and
let other people steal your dreams and it is my dream to be Homecoming King for WSU. So I'm going after this dream

I would like to be part of the Homecoming Court because I want to represent Wright State University. Wright State
has given me a plethora of opportunities to both get involved in school as well as express who I am. I am President
of the Building Society, Web Coordinator for SWE, and a member of numerous other engineering groups. I also
volunteer every winter with TAASC, a group devoted to helping people with handicaps ski. I thoroughly enjoy
helping others and I feel that by being part of the Homecoming Court I will have yet another chance to help out.

Over the past four years at Wright State, I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime. Not only have I had a
chance to receive an excellent education, I have had the chance to work with some extraordinary people from
all over the university.  From working with the schools athletic program to being a member of the Greek community,
Wright State has helped me grow as person. If feel that by being on this years Homecoming Court, I can give back to
the university. It would be an honor to represent this university and everything it stands for.
