International Education Awards

Wright State 2025 Annual International Education Award

Awarded in the Fall Semester.

Call for Nominations

This award recognizes the successful efforts of members of the Wright State University community in:

  • expanding global awareness and international understanding on the campus and in the surrounding communities;
  • developing innovative, internationally-focused curriculum;
  • operating education abroad activities; and
  • providing services to international students and scholars.

The award is presented annually in conjunction with International Education Week observances at Wright State University. This year, International Education Week will be November 3-7, 2025.

Nominations

  • Any faculty, staff, student member(s), or group of the Wright State community can be nominated for this award.
  • Nominations should include a cover letter summarizing the accomplishments of the candidate(s), a curriculum vitae or resume, and appropriate supporting evidence concerning the nominee(s)' contributions to international education at Wright State University.
  • Nominations should be submitted to Michelle Streeter-Ferrari, Director, University Center for International Education, 244 Student Union by October 17, 2025.
  • These materials will be forwarded to the International Education Award selection committee.

Global Citizen & International Advocate Awards

Awarded in the Fall Semester.

The Wright State University Center for International Education (UCIE) is currently accepting nominations for two awards: the Global Citizen Award and the International Student/Scholar Advocate Award. Learn more about these awards below. Individuals who are nominated and selected will be recognized at the 2024 Wright State International Education Reception. Nomination forms and documentation must be submitted to UCIE no later than Friday, October 17, 2025, to be considered.

International Student/Scholar Advocate Award

The individual nominated for the International (Student/Scholar) Advocate Award should be a Wright State faculty or staff member or a Dayton area community or group member, who has been instrumental in improving the experience of Wright State international students and scholars during their studies at Wright State University. This award will be presented at the 2024 Wright State International Education Reception.

Deadline: Nomination forms and letters are due by 5:00 p.m., October 17, 2025.

Global Citizen Award

The individual nominated for the Global Citizen Award should be an outstanding international student, Wright State Exchange Visitor Program scholar (researcher/professor) or a US domestic student, who through service and leadership at Wright State, in the Dayton community, or abroad, has been instrumental in improving the experience of other Wright State students here on campus, in the Dayton community, or on one of Wright State's exchange or study abroad programs. This award will be presented at the 2024 Wright State International Education Reception.

Deadline: Nomination forms and letters are due by 5:00 p.m., October 17, 2025.

Jennifer Subban, associate professor of urban affairs at Wright State University, received the 2017 International Education Award for her work with the university’s Leadership Education to Advance Development (LEAD) Program.

Redko, who is associate professor of community health at the Boonshoft School of Medicine, was honored for her innovative and sustained contributions to global health education.

“Kirsten’s advocacy for expanding global awareness and international understanding has opened and deepened the lives of those she touches,” said Marie Hertzler, chair of the Department of Modern Languages.
