4008.1 General Policy
Firearms are prohibited from the campus of Wright State
University, including university managed facilities.
4008.2 Exceptions
- Individuals who are exempted from this policy include Wright State University
Police officers, other police officers (who are required to carry a firearm
in accordance with Ohio Revised Code, Chapter 2923), participants in official
ROTC unit activities, and individuals who have received prior approval to
conduct classroom demonstrations.
- The course instructor and the director of the Chief of Police will review
all requests to conduct a classroom demonstration of any firearm. They must
authorize and submit to the vice president for student affairs and enrollment
services written documentation outlining the plans for the firearm
demonstration. The documentation must be submitted to the vice president
for student affairs and enrollment services one week prior to the
demonstration. The vice president for student affairs and enrollment services
will inform the Chief of Police of approval.
- Any exceptions to this policy will be reviewed on a case by case basis
at the discretion of the vice president for student affairs and enrollment
services or his/her designee and at the discretion of the director of the
Chief of Police.
