2020

Dena Wenzler has been a hospice nurse for more than 25 years. Dena graduated from the Dayton School of Practical Nursing in 1972 as a licensed practical nurse, Sinclair Community College in 1976 as a registered nurse, and earned her Certified Hospice Palliative Care Nurse certification in 1993. She is currently a hospice house shift leader with Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. As part of a team that provides symptom management and comfort care to patients at the end of life, Dena exemplifies the values of kindness, compassion, honesty, and servant leadership. In 2004, she received the Pride of Hospice Award for Management. Dena truly enjoys working with patients, families, and her teammates. In addition to providing superior care and superior services to patients and families, she is a good steward to the community. Dena worked to establish a program that connects local charities and nonprofits with families looking to donate new and usable medical supplies that would otherwise be discarded after a patient dies. She lives in Washington Township with her husband of 47 years, Martin. She has three children and eight grandchildren.
