Sycamore Hospital—Evan Maurer

Evan Maurer has been a Registered Nurse for three years and has worked the past two years as a staff nurse in Unit One at Sycamore Hospital. Evan is an exceptional and competent team player who truly cares about his patients’ physical and emotional needs. He is the first one to jump up to meet any patient’s needs, even if the patient is not assigned to him. In 2013, he was recognized 83 times by his patients; he leads the unit in customer service recognition. His patients repeatedly comment on his professionalism, his ability to explain procedures thoroughly, and his “true connection” to patients. Evan equally cares about his co-workers. With his calming spirit and demeanor, he can always be relied on to help when a co- worker is having a busy day. His co-workers say that Evan is a very positive person who motivates others with his selfless actions and who leads by example. They are always happy to see Evan’s name on the assignment sheet. He is a member of Kettering’s Shared Governance Council. Evan earned his BSN from Wright State University.
