Dr. Vanessa Wills, a political philosopher at The George Washington University, will be delivering the Erik C. Banks Memorial Lecture in Philosophy. The title of her talk is "Empire, Capital, and the Meaning of 'Moral Clarity': Marx's Ethical Vision Today." Her 2024 monograph, Marx’s Ethical Vision (Oxford University Press), explores Karl Marx’s nuanced ethical perspectives, challenging the notion that Marxism dismisses morality.
This lecture series aims to create an opportunity for members of the university community to join with residents of the broader Dayton region to consider a topic of current philosophical interest. It honors the memory of Dr. Erik Banks, past member of the philosophy faculty.
