45th Annual Ryterband Symposium
Professor Robert Alter has taught at UC Berkeley since 1967. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Council of Scholars of the Library of Congress, and is past president of the Association of Literary Scholars and Critics. He has twice been a Guggenheim Fellow, has been a Senior Fellow of the National Endowment for the Humanities and a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Jerusalem. Furthermore, he is one of this country's most widely renowned literary critics and has published more than two dozen books on European and Hebrew Literature. His exquisite translations of the Tanakh, accompanied by illuminating commentaries, capture both the artistry and intricacies of the original Hebrew Scriptures.
On Wednesday, March 26, he will deliver two lectures at Wright State's Student Union, Room 163. "How to Read Biblical Narratives" at 4 p.m. and "The Challenge of Translating the Bible” at 7 p.m. For further information, please email Prof. Mark Verman: mark.verman@wright.edu.
