Join our freshman mentoring program on this backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail!  This trip runs alongside our Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trip and is eight days full of backpacking, camping, and giving back to the mountains through service projects. This trip is unique as we will take a freshman group and an upperclassman group - both groups will be together for a few days, but while hiking, one group will start on one side of the mountain and the other group will start on the other side. Halfway through the hike, the two groups will meet and stay together at the same shelter. Each participant will be paired up with a "little sibling." Spend the last few weeks of summer meeting new people, hiking 28 miles of the Appalachian Trail while staying in the classic AT shelters, and helping a local group rebuild sections of the AT through a day of service projects.

Cost: $325

Cost Includes: ORC trip leaders, all backpacking equipment, meals on location, two night stay in a hostel, all permits, camping fees, equipment for service projects, and transportation from WSU in 12 passenger van.

Physical Challenge Scale: Level 3, this trip is challenging.
Remoteness Scale: Level 3, this is a backcountry trip.
