SHARK'S INK
Works Published by Master Printer Bud Shark

March 31–May 2, 2010

The Robert & Elaine Stein Galleries will be exhibiting 36 prints by nineteen artists who have created works in collaboration with Master Printer, Bud Shark of Shark’s Ink in Lyons, Colorado. Since 1976, Mr. Shark has published prints in collaboration with many of the most distinguished and innovative contemporary American artists, creating an extensive body of works which often challenge assumptions about the limitations of printmaking.

Shark’s Ink uses a variety of techniques in the studio, such as lithography, monotype, metal leaf, embossing and collage. Mr. Shark also creates a multiple of different techniques to help with relief prints, and develops and builds three-dimensional lithographs.

This exhibition will consist primarily of finished prints featuring the various technical innovations, but also include print states and working mock-ups to inform the audience as to how the finished work came into being.

On Sunday, April 18th, 2010, Shark will be giving a Gallery Talk in the Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries at 2:30 pm, with a reception to follow until 5:30 pm. It is free and open to the public. Professor of Art Thomas, Macauly, and Professor of Art, Kimberly Vito curated the show.

Gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Thursday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. All visitor parking areas on campus are free, and parking at the Creative Arts Center is unrestricted after 4pm Friday and on the weekends. A dedicated parking space for galleries patrons is available during school hours.

All Galleries events are free and open to the public.

This exhibition is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, the Ohio Arts Council and Friends and Members of the Galleries.
