SOBC Time is Here! As the Spring submission period for the Student Organization Budget Committee (SOBC) approaches, it is important to note that attending an SOBC training session is mandatory for all Tier II: RSO and Tier III organizations seeking funding for their events and activities. Without attendance, your organization will not be eligible to submit a budget. Tier I, Tier II: Club Sports, Tier II: BSOM, and Tier II: FSL organizations are not eligible through this process.
What is SOBC?
The Student Organization Budget Committee (SOBC) is composed of students and an advisor. This committee reviews budget requests and makes funding recommendations for registered student organizations at Wright State. To be eligible for funding, your organization must be classified as Tier II: RSO or Tier III and in good standing with the Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SIL).
Beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year, all organizations will transition to an annual funding application.
Training Sessions
SOBC provides training sessions to ensure that organizations submit well-prepared budget requests in line with university policies. At least one representative from your organization must attend a session—preferably the treasurer, as they are responsible for managing the organization’s finances.
Due to space limitations, each session is capped at 16 participants. Please RSVP on Engage as soon as possible to secure your spot. All training sessions will be held at the Student Involvement and Leadership Center Presentation Space, 190 Student Union or online. One person can only represent one organization. Please plan accordingly. The available dates and times are listed below:
- Monday, March 31: 2–3 p.m. (190 SU)
- Tuesday, April 1: 9:30–10:30 a.m. (190 SU)
- Wednesday, April 2: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (190 SU)
- Thursday, April 3: 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. (190 SU)
- Friday, April 4: 3–4 p.m. (via Teams)
- Saturday, April 5: 10–11 a.m. (via Teams)
Budget Submission Deadlines
- Early review deadline: Monday, April 14, by 12:00 p.m.
- Final submission deadline: Friday, April 18, by 11:59 p.m.
Late submissions will affect your organization’s funding eligibility. Only organizations with at least one member attending an SOBC training will be able to submit budget requests.

Budget Hearings
If your organization is requesting more than $5,000, you will need to attend a budget hearing. These virtual hearings will be held in November and will last no more than 15 minutes. The purpose of the hearing is for you to explain your budget in more detail and answer any questions the committee may have.
