A Wetland Wanders tour of Pearl's Fen

Join Brandon Hough for a tour of Pearl's Fen to learn a bit about its history and see the spectacular fall blooms on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m.

The site of the springs where Beaver Creek begins, Pearl’s Fen is home to some unique species of birds. Did you know approximately half of North American bird species nest or feed in wetlands? That means there are far more than 300-plus species of birds that visit wetlands making them an ideal place to learn about our feathered friends. This talk is best suited for those who don't know much about birds but want to begin learning more. However, all levels of birders are welcome as this is meant to be a great discussion and learning session for all.

Brandon is an avid birder who is always looking to learn more about birds and the natural world in general and he loves sharing that passion with others. Brandon is proud that many of his first time spots on his bird list have occurred right here in the Beaver Creek Wetlands.

We will spend about one hour on the boardwalk. An optional 30 to 60 minute walk along the trails behind the fen will follow. The boardwalk requires only street shoes but those who wish to continue on trails should have sturdy shoes for the irregular surface.
