Dear Colleagues,
Welcome back! I hope you had a chance to rest during the Winter Break and that you’re eager to start the Spring Semester. I am looking forward to serving as acting provost and am eager to get to know many of you better. Prior to joining Wright State University as dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Services in June 2022, I served in a variety of roles at Appalachian State University, including chairing the Department of Psychology for nine years. My educational background includes a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton, a master’s degree in experimental psychology from Bucknell University, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from New York University. My research specializes in information processing in animals, including learning, memory, timing, and decision making.
Welcome New Faculty!
We look forward to working with our new faculty and are excited to introduce them to the Wright State community!

- Participation Rosters — Instructions for submitting participation rosters for students who have yet to establish participation at least once in your class were sent on the first day of classes. This is not only a critical process for Title IV compliance, but it also helps our student success staff to reach out to students who might need assistance. The period for submitting your participation roster will close at midnight of the last day a student can drop and receive a 100% tuition refund. The data collected by these reports is required for any institution that receives Title IV funding. Read these FAQs for more details.
- Midterm Grades — Faculty will regularly submit midterm grades for all undergraduate courses. Further information is available on the registrar’s faculty resource page.
Associate to Full Professor Mentoring Program
Faculty are invited to join the Provost’s Office’s Associate to Full Professor Mentoring Program, which is designed to help prepare associate professors for promotion to the rank of full professor. Participation in the Associate to Full Professor Mentoring Program is open to all associate professors interested in going up for promotion in the fall of 2025 or fall of 2026. Participation is limited to 15 faculty members and preference will be given to those applicants who have been at the rank of associate professor for five years or more.
Faculty members in the program will receive guidance to develop goals and a timeline for promotion, understand department and college promotion procedures, and construct a promotion dossier. Program participants will have the opportunity to select additional topics based on their interests.
The 2025 program will begin in February and conclude in October. Selected faculty members will participate in quarterly meetings to discuss the process of promotion and how to overcome barriers to promotion. Participants will meet monthly with an assigned mentor, based on the faculty member and mentor’s schedules. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2025.
Please contact Daniel Warshawsky, Provost's Faculty Fellow, at daniel.warshawsky@wright.edu with any questions.

We encourage you to share this important resource with your students.

- The Center for Faculty Excellence continues the Quality Matters (QM) Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) (7th Edition) Workshop. This workshop allows participants to learn the underlying principles behind the Quality Matters Rubric (7th Edition) and the critical elements of the QM quality assurance process. Participants will learn about drafting helpful recommendations as you apply the rubric to an actual course. The effective instructional design principles included in the workshop apply to all learning environments (face-to-face, online, and blended learning). This workshop is helpful for designing and developing courses and for those considering the adoption of a quality assurance process for online and hybrid learning.
The APPQMR is the prerequisite for the Peer Reviewer Course, which is required to become a QM peer reviewer.
The APPQMR Workshop is an eight-hour, one-day online session. To receive credit for completion, participants must attend the entire session and participate in all workshop activities and discussions. Registered participants will receive information about the session—including the Webex link—the week of the class.

Research and Sponsored Programs
Registration is open through February 13 to present at the Celebration of Undergraduate and Graduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities event, which will be held on Thursday, March 13.
The event gives students from a wide array of disciplines the opportunity to showcase their academic endeavors. Students will exhibit posters and present discoveries, advances, and scholarly explorations. We encourage students to register to present as it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their incredible talents and achievements and highlight the outstanding resources in your college.
Volunteers Needed for Student Capstone Project
Finance students completing their capstone project are seeking volunteers to receive financial planning and counseling. Your participation includes three class-time meetings throughout the semester and access to your personal financial situation.
The capstone project includes a comprehensive, detailed, and meaningful personal financial plan. Rob Henrich, the instructor for the class and a practicing certified financial planner in the Dayton area for more than 20 years, supervises the process and ensures the recommendations are meaningful, appropriate, and implementable.
If you are interested in helping our students in this endeavor, please email robert.henrich@wright.edu.
