Dear Colleagues,
Next week we celebrate the 13th annual Raidersgiving. This is a time when students, employees, and alumni can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal and, most importantly, come together to show our thanks for each other. I hope to see you on Wednesday, November 27, from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Student Union Apollo Room.
This is also an opportunity to remind you how thankful I am for all of you. The work we’ve taken on has been challenging but necessary. We’ve increased student retention and prioritized academic sustainability. I know this has been an immense amount of work and I am so thankful for your partnership and leadership.
Events
The College of Science and Mathematics will host the Festival of Research on Friday, November 22, in the Student Union Apollo and Endeavour Rooms. The Festival of Research is a day-long event that provides opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students and postdocs to explore research, scholarship, and careers. Students will present their research to peers, staff, and a panel of judges through either posters or oral presentations. The event is sponsored by Leidos Inc.
Best Integrated Writing Journal
Best Integrated Writing: The Journal of Excellence in Integrated Writing Courses at Wright State University biannually showcases excellent undergraduate student writing from integrated writing courses taught across disciplines at the Dayton and Lake Campuses.
The fall 2024 issue of Best Integrated Writing, showcasing the stellar work of seven students, is now available on CORE Scholar.
Faculty Resources and Workshops
- The Center for Faculty Excellence is pleased to bring weekly tips to your inbox through Monday Morning Mentors. These are quick video presentations with additional materials provided. The presentation and supplemental material for “How to Teach Transferable Skills for Career Readiness” are available through November 24. To access the presentation, use “career310” as the password.
- Closing the Loop on Course Assessment: At the beginning of the term, assessment plans were created for each course. Now that the term is wrapping up, it is time to collect, report, and analyze the data. This workshop will walk through these processes to close the loop on course assessment for the term. Participants will learn how to report and/or collect data in the Planning and Self-Study system, receive tips on analyzing assessment results, and identify data-informed opportunities to improve student success.

Register for Fall Commencement
Commencement is an event that marks a significant moment in the lives of our students and their families. The granting of a degree and the admission to the “rights and privileges” associated with a given degree are extraordinarily important events for those receiving degrees.
The presence of faculty is especially important for the graduates and their families. All faculty should prioritize their attendance and bargaining unit faculty are reminded of their responsibility under Article 7.4.8.
All faculty are encouraged to attend one or both fall commencement ceremonies in the Wright State Nutter Center. Registration is required and is open now through November 27. Register online.
Graduate Ceremony: Friday, December 13, 7:00 p.m.
Undergraduate Ceremony: Saturday, December 14, 10:00 a.m.
