About

[OFFICIAL-L] Spring Semester Continuation

I hope your semester has gotten off to a nice start.

On January 6, I sent out a communication describing a phased return to campus over the first two weeks of Spring Semester. In that communication, we requested that all hybrid courses and any on-campus, face-to-face classes that could do so effectively be conducted remotely for the first two weeks of the semester.

At this time, we intend to stick to that plan and return to a spring schedule that will follow the course delivery modes originally planned for this semester. Any hybrid courses that included an in-person component and all scheduled in-person classes can resume meeting as proposed beginning January 25.

I ask instructors in those courses to inform students as soon as possible of their plans for course delivery starting January 25 so that there are no questions as to whether students can or should come to campus for instruction.

As was the case during the Fall term, all in-person activity requests for Spring Semester must go through a review process, which has been integrated into the previously established space reservation process. Learn more on the in-person activity webpage.

Reducing our human footprint on our campuses was a critical element in our operational approach in the Fall term and continues into Spring Semester. Those employees whose work can be effectively accomplished remotely should work with their supervisors to discuss moving to (or continuing to) work remotely during Spring Semester if appropriate. Please check with your department head or supervisor if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued patience and participation with our campus safety precautions.

I remind you that the university will be closed Monday, January 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Take care,

Douglas W. Leaman, Ph.D.
Interim Provost
