Semester Transition Credit Information
Effective Fall 2012, in accordance with the establishment of the University System of Ohio, Wright State University transitioned from a quarter-based calendar to a semester-based calendar.
Information on this page was used during the semester transition and may still be useful to university advisors when working with students that entered WSU on the quarter system and will continue and complete their studies after summer semester 2012.
Course Equivalency Information
The Course Equivalency Table (PDF) provides a side-by-side list of undergraduate quarter courses and their semester equivalents. It identifies, on a course-by-course basis, how credits taken under quarters at Wright State will be applied to degree requirements under the new semester system.
The University Pledge
Wright State commits to providing an extraordinary level of support to students, both those who wish to graduate prior to the conversion to semesters and those whose programs will span the quarter-to-semester transition. We will provide timely curricular transition information, online scheduling support, and academic advising for each student. We pledge that for a student who meets with an assigned academic advisor, jointly creates a plan that leads to graduation, and successfully completes the academic requirements in the timeline specified in the plan, there will be:
- Consistent application of credit: Credits that apply to your program before the semester conversion will continue to apply after the conversion.
- On-time graduation: You will graduate in the same time frame as you would have, had Wright State remained on the quarter system.
- No increased costs: Your annual tuition and fees under the semester system will not be greater than they would be if Wright State continued on the quarter system.
For students with the option to graduate before the semester conversion, the university will freeze the requirements for existing degree programs, will publish a multi-year course planning schedule, and will provide advising to assist students in developing a program of study that will satisfy their degree requirements prior to Fall 2012. An exception to the freeze of degree requirements may occur to satisfy changes in accreditation or licensure standards.
For transition students, students who begin their degree programs prior to Fall 2012 and will graduate after the conversion to semesters, the university will provide an advising program so that each student can develop an individual advising plan that includes both quarter and semester courses and defines a specific path that leads to graduation in the semester corresponding to the quarter in which the student would have graduated, had Wright State remained on the quarter system. The individual advising plan will be agreed upon by both the student and the student’s assigned academic advisor.
Your Responsibility
A successful partnership places responsibilities on both parties. You must meet with an assigned academic advisor, jointly create an individual advising plan that leads to graduation, and then successfully complete the academic requirements following the timeline specified in the plan.
The university will not be responsible for the preceding commitments if you do not have an approved individual advising plan or you do not complete the requirements of the individual advising plan in the agreed upon timeline.
