A groundbreaking initiative has taken flight at Wright State University, revolutionizing the way we approach mental health on campus, and signaling a powerful cultural shift towards prioritizing mental health in our community. Part of that movement is Mental Health First Aid training.
Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues.
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.
The next virtual training (via Zoom) is June 16, 2023. To register, contact huma.bashir@wright.edu
The Mental Health Task Force and the Staff Senate encourage everyone to take this training and seize an important opportunity to build a stronger and more resilient university community!
