From Thursday, 04/11/24, until Saturday, 04/13/24, The Diversity Film Festival will take place in the Creative Arts Center (Music Side), Film Theater Room 280. This festival highlights different cultures within cinema and their representations on the screen. The festival will include screenings of Spirited Away (2001), My Parent, Neal (2021), and Destiny (1997).

The MO3320 Identity, Diversity, and Equity students of the Tom Hanks Center for Motion Pictures are producing a film festival as part of the work for their course. On Thursday, 04/11/24, from 12:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., along with a screening of Hayao Miyazaki’s 2001 animated film Spirited Away, Brandon Dotson will deliver a presentation on Asian Representation in North American media. On Friday, 04/12/24, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Jedawn Wilson’s presentation will be based Diversity of Women in film including a screening of Hannah Saidiner’s 2021 short film My Parent, Neal. Finally, on Saturday, 04/13/24, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Bradley Stewart will conclude the festival with a presentation on Arabic cinema and representation. His session will include a screening of Youssef Chahine’s 1997 film Destiny. The event is free and open to members of the WSU community.
