Annual Awards and Recognition Program
This yearly program honors our graduating students and their accomplishments. We partner with our college deans to honor our African American graduates with Kente stoles, and we announce scholarships and leadership awards for African American students.
Bolinga Welcome Reception
We host this annual fall reception for all new and returning African American faculty, staff, and students to help increase the enrichment and retention of African American students.
Black History Month Programs
During Black History Month, we sponsor or co-sponsor a series of activities focusing on African American culture and heritage in partnership with our student organizations, colleges, and departments.
Brown Bag Speaker Series
This regular series is a forum to inform, educate, and inspire the community on a variety of topics. We feature African American leaders and scholars in collaboration with the African and African American Studies program, the Greater Dayton community, and the Wright State University community.
Civil Rights Pilgrimage
The Civil Rights Pilgrimage is as an alternative to spring break where students will visit sites of historical importance to the U.S. civil rights movement.
Kwanzaa Feast
This is a Fall Semester cultural and historical celebration that highlights the seven principles of Kwanzaa and honors the experiences of African Americans.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration and Center Anniversary
Our annual winter program honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and celebrates the anniversary of the Bolinga center's opening.
Pathways Program
The Pathways Program is a student success program that provides first-year students and their families with support to ease transition from high school to college and to create their own empowering educational experience.
Ujima Mentoring Program
The Ujima Mentoring Program supports first-year African American students who want to improve their chances of academic success. You will work at an on-campus job with a supervisor who serves as your mentor.
