About
Why Attend the ECWCA Annual Conference
The ECWCA Writing Center conference offers writing center professionals from the Ohio/Michigan/Indiana/Western PA/Northern KY areas the unique opportunity to network, share, and learn from one another.
If you have attended our conference before, welcome back! We appreciate your participation. If this is your first time attending, we are always excited to see new faces and have new institutions represented at our events.
Join us this Leap Year as we take a leap into the concept of time. Inevitably, the concept of time has come up in our conversations in the writing center. How do writing center professionals, writing consultants, and our students use time effectively in and out of writing sessions? What impact does time have on our work? In the end, writing and consulting both take a lot of time.
The ECWCA conference welcomes a variety of breakout session types and opportunities. As a conference participant, you will decide which breakout sessions to attend day of based on the conference schedule. If you are interested in presenting at the conference, please see our Call For Proposals.
Additionally, all conference participants will be able to attend our keynote panel that will focus on AI and ChatGPT, a tool that is changing the landscape of education and the workforce.
It is our hope that participants will walk away with new strategies to engage students, resources to use in sessions, research to read and improve their writing center’s pedagogy, and practical ideas to implement with their staff. We look forward to seeing you in Dayton, Ohio! If you have questions, please contact your conference hosts, Jill Tussing (jill.tussing@wright.edu) or Eugene Oswald (eugene.oswald@sinclair.edu).
