Graduation and Commencement Ceremony

Wright State University holds two commencement ceremonies each year. The first ceremony is Fall Commencement which is held in December. Summer and Fall graduates may participate in this ceremony. The second ceremony is Spring Commencement which is held on the last weekend of April or first weekend of May. Ceremonies are held at the Wright State University Nutter Center.

Fall 2024

Graduate Ceremony (Doctoral and Master's): Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m.

Undergraduate Ceremony (Bachelor's): Saturday, December 14 at 10 a.m.

Potential graduates

Graduation is the receiving or conferring of an academic degree once you have fulfilled all of the requirements. Commencement is the ceremony held in the spring and fall celebrating your accomplishment.

  • You will receive an email when you are close to graduating.
  • Follow the directions included in the email or visit the Apply for Graduation page.
  • You will register for the commencement ceremony in this process.
  • You can change your response up to 35 days before the Commencement ceremony.

Since our commencement ceremonies immediately follow final exams, we are not able to certify the completion of graduation requirements prior to commencement. Therefore, Wright State does not distribute diplomas at its ceremonies.

Students graduating during the Fall and Spring Semesters will receive their diploma presentation folder during the commencement ceremony. Summer graduates will receive their diplomas in the mail. (Please note it may take 6–8 weeks to receive your diploma.) Visit the Diplomas webpage to learn more about receiving your diploma.
