Welcome to the new academic year! This past summer, UCIE was busily coordinating summer study abroad. Wright State faculty led groups of students around the globe including to Stratford-Canada, Quebec-Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malawi, Mexico, Oman, Poland, and Puerto Rico.  Over one hundred more students studied abroad through our institutional partners abroad.  Wright State welcomed over 170 new international students to campus from 34 different countries to bring overall international student enrollment to approximately 1,037!  Please make sure to reach out to our international students and make sure that they feel welcome here!
 
UCIE is very excited to announce new leadership as well.  Our new Associate Vice President for International Affairs, Bill Holmes, joined us just a couple weeks ago.  He will be collaborating with the campus and community to advance international education at Wright State.  
William (Bill) A. Holmes III, joins Wright State University as the Associate Vice President for International Affairs. "Bill is experienced in working with faculty, staff, and students in developing campus-wide internalization plans that include international student recruitment, increasing study abroad opportunities, establishing relationships with international institutions, and incorporating a global perspective into the curriculum," said Wright State Provost, Thomas Sudkamp. As a campus community, you will have several opportunities to meet Mr. Holmes personally and share your experiences with international education.  Mr. Holmes will also ask your help in forming the future international vision of Wright State University!  Here are just some of the open times which will be available this fall semester:

Highlighting August Collaborations: UCIE's Dayton City Tour with RTA

On Wednesday, August 23, 2017, the UCIE partnered with RTA and Student Conduct and Community Standard's Chris Hogan to take 56 new international students from around the world on a tour of the city of Dayton. The tour taught students how to use the local transportation system through RTA's travel training. Students visited the new DK Effect, Riverscape MetroPark, Downtown RTA Hub, and the Oregon Historic District. The UCIE thanks RTA and Chris Hogan for their support in such a wonderful collaboration of sharing resources with new international students.

Students Abroad: Yoon-Jai

Meet our study abroad student, Yoon-Jae! Yoon-Jae is a business major at Wright State University and studied abroad in Angers France through our Exchange program with Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d'Angers Business School, AACSB accredited. Yoon-Jae took both French language courses as well as business courses while there and was able to have many wonderful adventures all over France. To top it off, after Angers he traveled to Paris to do our short-term summer Ambassador Program!
