Education

Study abroad programs for education students provide learning opportunities that prepare future educators to navigate today’s diverse classrooms through both instruction and interactions with the local community.

Highlighted Study Abroad Programs for Education Majors
Örebo, Sweden (Exchange)

Örebro is a dynamic and vibrant town located close to Lake Hjälmaren in the heart of Sweden. The University is a modern and rapidly growing campus with a diverse range of courses taught in English. Educations classes taught in English include ethnic diversity in the classroom, special needs education and international comparative education. 

Hiroshima, Japan (USAC)

Located in Saijo City, approximately 30 minutes from central Hiroshima by train, Hiroshima University is one of the most prestigious Japanese universities. Students on this program take one language class and can select from electives in English including several education offerings. Students may study in Hiroshima for the Fall Semester or the Academic Year.

Oxford, England (ASA)

Oxford is a charming and cosmopolitan university city with a rich history. Located just outside of the Oxford city center, Oxford Brookes University is home to 19,000 students including 2,500 international students. Education majors who select this program will be able to choose from a wide range of education courses.

Reading, England (ISA)

The city of Reading is situated on the River Thames and offers students a great place to study. Students will study at the University of Reading which has a rich history dating back to the second half of the 19th Century. Wide selections of courses in education are offered to students through the University’s Institute of Education.

Sydney, Australia (AIFS)

Sydney is an exciting and cosmopolitan city. Students will take courses at Macquarie University alongside Australian students. The University offers a large selection of classes for students in both early childhood and primary education. A unique feature of this program is an 11-day course in Fiji at the start of the program.

Dunedin, New Zealand (CIS Abroad)

Dunedin is located towards the southern tip of the South Island of New Zealand and has all the facilities, entertainment, and variety of larger cities but is small enough to be friendly, intimate, and uncrowded. Students will study at the University of Otago which is a short walk from the city's vibrant center. A large selection of education courses are offered to students through the College of Education.

Engineering

Study abroad programs for engineering students provide learning opportunities that prepare future engineers to navigate global perspectives in the engineering environment through both classroom instruction and interactions with the local community.

Highlighted Study Abroad Programs for Engineering Majors
Umeå, Sweden (Exchange)

Umeå University is located in the largest city in northern Sweden. The city of Umeå is a place where different worlds meet and with more than 50 languages spoken (English is widely used) the city provides a wide range of cultural activities. The University offers several courses taught in English in electronics engineering, as well as classes in physics, computer engineering and other science and technology fields.

London, England (ASA)

Located in the London Borough of Southwark, London South Bank University is one of the oldest universities in central London. Engineering students take classes from the faculty of Engineering, Science and Built Environment. Courses are offered in such areas as architectural, building services, civil, electrical, petroleum, and biomechanical engineering.

Accra, Ghana (USAC)

The University of Ghana at Legon program offers a unique opportunity for students to live and study in the heart of West Africa. It is the perfect destination for those who want to learn about the complex issues facing a developing African nation while enjoying a rich cultural, historical and social experience. A selection of engineering courses is offered in English.

Amman, Jordan - Spring Semester (ISA)

Amman, the capital of Jordan, is one of the most diverse cities in the region and enjoys a thriving arts scene, along with historical monuments. The spring program at Al-Ahliyya Amman University offers students the opportunity to study not only Arabic but also to select from a vast array of engineering courses taught in English.

Seoul, South Korea (ISA)

Students will take courses alongside both Korean and international students at Konkuk University in the capital city of Seoul. Students can select from a comprehensive set of engineering classes taught in English including such disciplines as civil, environmental, chemical, electrical, materials, and mechanical engineering.

Nottingham, England (CIS Abroad)

Nottingham, regarded as one of England’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities, is located in the heart of central England. Students will study at the University of Nottingham which is one of the top UK research institutions. Engineering students can take classes in fields such as civil, electronic, environmental, and mechanical engineering.

Language Programs

Intensive language programs offer students the opportunity to develop or enhance language skills by providing learning opportunities through both classroom instruction and interactions with the local community.

Wright State Study Abroad programs offer students the opportunity to learn or enhance language skills through month long, semester, year long, and summer language programs. With language programs in 12 countries students have the ability to participate in language programs offered in Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Russian and Japanese.

These language programs provide WSU students the opportunity to earn 1 to 2 years worth of language credit in one semester. Full academic credit is provided for courses taken through a WSU-sponsored Study Abroad Program meaning that the classes you take can count towards your major, minor or general education requirements. The cost of study abroad programs will vary but with all Wright State approved programs financial aid and scholarships can be applied toward the cost of the program.

Preston, Lancashire UK (Exchange)

The University of Central Lancashire is situated in the city of Preston. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the university creates an amazing learning environment, encourages new contacts and friendships and attracts over 100 different nationalities onto the inner city campus. Through an agreement students in the College of Nursing and Health can take nursing courses at the University of Central Lancashire.
