Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, Barbara L. O'Brien, 81, of Springfield peacefully passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023.
She was born March 17, 1942, in Springfield to the late Wilbur and Milly (Sowers) Allender. She is preceded in death by her dear brother, Dick Allender. She is survived by her husband, Terry; son TJ and his daughter Jackie, and her girls Ava and Abby; son Scott and his wife Leigh Anne, and their children Emma and Jack; sister-in-law Martha, and her daughter Meghan and husband Chris; long-time friends Debbie and Harry Gordon, Hilda Fohs, and the whole St. Andrew family.
Barbara retired from Wright State University as an administrative assistant in the Physics Department. Barbara loved spending time in nature and at Indian Lake, was a faithful and talented organist for many years at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Enon, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her kind, generous, and humble spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield. All are welcome.
