Inder Khera, Ph.D., 82, of Piqua, passed away at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County on Friday Jan. 31, 2020. Inder was born on April 17, 1937, in Maatanhail, India, to the late Dr. Dharampal and Dharamwati (Varma) Khera. On Dec. 1, 1983, he married Sylvia (Cushnie) Khera in Pasadena, Calif.
Inder is survived by his wife Sylvia, his daughter Anjali Pratima Khera, Piqua, OH; his son Arjun Rajiv Khera, Piqua, OH; his two brothers Satyapal Khera, Rockville, MD and Raj Pal Khera, Ph.D., Freehold, NJ; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Shanta (Khera) Batra.
Inder graduated from Government High School, Rohtak, India in 1952. He received a Bachelor in Biology and Chemistry and a Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Engineering and Fine Chemicals from India. From the University of Iowa he received a Master in Pharmacy, a Master in Business, and a Ph.D. in Marketing. Inder taught at the University of Indiana at Gary, Illinois Institute of Technology at Chicago, and the University of Iowa, at Iowa City. For 35 years he was a Professor of Marketing at Wright State University in Dayton. He also served as a visiting Professor at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad, India. While a professor he wrote a book and many scholarly publications.
A celebration of Inder’s life was held on Feb. 15, 2020, at the Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, with Pundit Ashwani Kumar as celebrant. Per Dr. Khera’s wishes, please don’t send flowers.
