Janice Jean Gabbert, 80, of Dayton, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020. She served as chair of the Department of Classics for almost 20 years and retired in 2004.
Jan attended Wright State as an undergraduate and received a Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Cincinnati with a specialization in ancient Greek language and history. She joined the WSU Department of Classics in 1977 and served as chair from 1986-2004, when she retired.

No services have been scheduled at this time. In recognition of her service in the Air Force, Jan’s final resting place will be the Dayton VA National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home.
