Judith Lynne “Judy” Janicki, age 76, of Casstown passed away on Oct.. 17, 2023, from complications of dementia. She was born on July 31, 1947, in Philadelphia to the late Donald and Dorothy (McKay) Plummer.
Judy is survived by her husband of 31 years: Scott Janicki; her daughter: Dr. Valerie Spees; her son: Charlie Wentling; her 3 grandchildren: Nathan, Bridget and Adam Spees and her brother: David Plummer.
Judy attended Presbyterian School of Nursing and Wright State University and received her master's from Miami University and Hebrew Union College. She then became a professor of theology at Wight State University, Capital University and Sinclair Community College.
After moving to Dayton, Judy held jobs at several hospitals in the area including Middletown (Atrium), Grandview, Miami Valley, Childrens and Good Samaritan where she worked in the emergency room. She also joined the Riverside Fire Department, as a Firefighter/Paramedic.
Judy had a love for horses from a very early age. She was able to recite every horse that won the Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown. She ended up owning 15 horses at one time. Judy also loved going to the Ohio Renaissance Festival, working with jousters and only missed one year since it opened. She also enjoyed running and had been a member of the Ohio River Road Running Club.
There will be no public services.
