Loretta Sophia Metzler, 91, passed away on August 3, 2023. She was born in Norwood, Ohio, to Karl and Henrietta Meyer (nee Wehring). Loretta is survived by her sister, Marion Carter, her niece Lisa Carter and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was active in the Civil Air Patrol and had a lengthy career at Cox Heart Institute. A published technical writer, she was one of the few women who were breaking the glass ceiling at the time in computer language and programming. She retired from Wright State University in 1993. A talented artist and animal lover, she left behind many of her paintings of animals she came across in her life. She will be missed by her family and many others whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James Metzler. Private Services will be held by the family.
